"For projects backed by industrial development agencies, should all contractors be required to pay union-level 'prevailing wages' or should they be allowed to negotiate the most attractive rates they can?"
The video below is an unedited segment with Adore Flynn Kurtz, executive director of the County of Clinton Industrial Development Agency, recorded during an Editorial Board meeting at the Press-Republican on Thursday, June 19, 2008. In it Kurtz comments on the CCIDA view of lobbying efforts in Albany to "reform" the state IDAs. She begins by referring to a report commissioned by the statewide organization of IDAs in response to criticism of the IDAs by the state AFL-CIO lobbyists.
Another analysis of the issue can be found in a recent Associated Press article which focuses on the impact the proposed "prevailing wage" reforms would have on IDA-backed non-profit projects. Read the article here.
