After graduating from Syracuse University in 1969, I first came to Plattsburgh when a copy writing position opened at WKDR Radio. It was then located upstairs at the corner of Margaret and Clinton Streets in Plattsburgh. My major(s) at Syracuse U. were Radio/TV and Journalism and I was eager to break into the broadcasting field after graduation.
I enjoyed a long 18 year stay with WKDR, working my way up to general manager before leaving to join WPTZ-TV in 1987.
While at WPTZ I held the positions of assistant news director and managing editor before departing in 1991.
Between 1991 and 1994 I held a variety of jobs in local businesses before returning to the communications field when the position of Special Publications Coordinator was created at the Press-Republican.
When, in 1997, the Press-Republican began studying how to build and operate an online newspaper publication, it seemed like a natural fit for the special publications department to become involved. I have been responsible for the operation of www.pressrepublican.com since it launched on Jan. 2, 1999.
The North Country BizConnect project began in 2007 after several years of thinking about how to build on the tremendous local interest I have witnessed in the North Country for all things involving jobs and economic growth. |
